Happy New Year and Thank you!
Thank you all for the lovely cards, delivered by email and postman, for the mails and letters and cheer-ups and presents (I hope I didn't forget to thank anybody personally!), and not to forget the membership card of the best society in the world! ;-)
I don't want to start the new year with a whine; after all, 2014 was off to a good start. I feel much better, but the week leading up to Christmas was grating, to say the least. I'm partially self-employed, and that lead to a discussion over payment with my main client (who thought that contracts are not binding and more like guidelines) which made me say the words "right, then I'll call my lawyer" for the first time in my life. I actually do have a lawyer (but only because I used to work for her ages ago), so magically, a solution was found (means: things go as we agreed upon originally), and I'll go my merry ways once the project is finished. I count the days...
More seriously, Charlie Cat got very seriously ill. He caught an inflammation of the colon plus giardia on top of it and was very, very poorly. He's 18, and at that age, it doesn't take much for a cat to die, so I feared I'd have to let him go on Christmas Day.
BUT! Look at him, the old rascal - thanks to a lot of TLC, antibiotics, a quadrillion of different meds and half of my Beef Wellington, Charlie is up and well again. Huzzah!
Oh - and stay tuned. I have a surprise for all the LOTR fans on my f-list! ;-)
