Another birthday come and gone, and it was a good one! Not least thanks to you kind people here; thanks so much for all your good wishes, cards, pics, virtual gifts, emails messages and other surprises! :-D

for thinking of me! Consider yourselves all firmly hugged. :-*

The afternoon wasn't up to a great start; due to some personal stuff getting in the way, we missed the charity-do of shirasade , but dieglasperle and I caught up with the good mood later on by going to the cinema. We watched "Skyfall", and I can really only recommend it; I'm not much of a Bond-fan, but that movie rocks! And Xavier Bardem is a genius villain! We stuffed ourselves with popcorn, and later treated ourselves to an equally healthy dinner consisting of falafel and döner dürüm with all the trimmings. And then came the cake... a delicious, fluffy dream of caramel, walnuts and cream... pure bliss!

dieglasperle gifted me with a hilarious book about a teacher's experiences through the decades, and my aunt fulfilled a great wish of mine by buying me a bird clock during her last stay in England. Needless to say, it's of great interest to the cats!

Last but not least, I made myself a birthday-compensationforfailedjourney-slippeddiskcomfort-present, and got myself a little brother for Mr. Garrow (my trusted laptop): please meet

Stinky Miller!

Stinky Miller is a 11" Mac Airbook, weighs only one kilo, and he works like a dream. No more fighting over the laptop, I can now write wherever I am (I have often "gap hours" between work/appointments, which I'll now fill with writing rather than sitting/standing/around). To show my appreciation, I got Stinky a brand-new FREITAG  sleeve.

"Why on earth are you calling a technical device STINKY MILLER, you loony person?!"

Watch the following clip (from "Hellzapoppin'", my favourite movie); "Stinky Miller, go home!" has become a catchphrase here whenever one of us is working too much. And yes, I'm aware not many people will share my view that a Mac Airbook looks like a little boy with jug ears.

Tomorrow it's back to work, back to physio and back to training; but with at least four pieces of caramel/walnut cake under my belt, I can conquer the world! :-D
