TV: Tips and Non-Tips - Andrew Buchan, James D'Arcy, Being Human USA

Jun 05, 2010 23:05

My inner hausfrau made a short appearance today, and as a consequence, I sit here with two delicious tartelettes aux fraises (still warm) and a mug of Irish breakfast tea with honey. And in case you think this was neither of importance nor interest: you are perfectly right. That's why I don't get why Twitter is so successful! Anyway, before I take ( Read more... )

Totally agree with you about the U.S. version of Being Human. There's no point to it when the original is still on the air B[! And those of us "across the pond" understand the humor and drama just fine, THANK YOU VERY MUCH B[. As for the casting, don't forget to add the detail "jaw-droppingly gorgeous", not to say the actors who play George and Mitchell aren't attractive, because they are, but they're not what passes as beautiful for a lot of people here in the States. I for one won't be watching this remake, that's for darn sure :[.

Easy on FlashForward there ;). It was a great show, if you were able to keep up with it. I have to say I'm disappointed it's not going to be coming back. I thought for sure it would be the show that finally introduced the American audience to the talent that is Jack Davenport, but it wasn't to be, as it turns out :(. Oh well, good luck to him in his future endeavors. Maybe there's still hope for him to break through with the American audience :].

I'm especially worried by "going more mainstream". I don't think Syfy understood in the least what Being Human is about; I guess that's why they usually only talk about "vampires" when discussing the show. They probably hope to cash in on the current vampire craze.

they're not what passes as beautiful for a lot of people here in the States.

I pity them. How can one NOT love George's ears?!? :-D Their loss, I say. I rather see Annie on the screen than some botoxbeachblondebustybabe.

I wasn't dissing FF, but it did flop. Again a case of producers and writers not really understanding how the audience works and what it wants. It's a shame, really, there was so much potential. :( And not nearly enough Jack!

They'll be "going more mainstream"? Oh dear =(! Those are the three words that send a chill up my spine. When they're used in a sentence discussing a remake of a show, you know you should be worried =[!
They probably hope to cash in on the current vampire craze.
I'd imagine so :/. That seems to be the "it" thing to do right now :[. Thing is, there are already a slew of vampire-related shows on TV at present. I know one of them is great, i.e. True Blood, and a friend said another, i.e. The Vampire Diaries, was also pretty good, but it is possible to have too much of a good thing. I mean, with those shows, the original Being Human, and the Twilight movie series, do we really need another vampire-related thing out there? I think not :/.

Same here :/. And yes, George does have very cute ears :P. I prefer someone who can actually act to a beautiful or handsome person who can't act for beans, as well ( ... )

Hunh! Interesting news, all (even the tartlettes, xP), I must say even if only in a vague-entertaining sort of way for me.

I just had to say, though: "The young Canadian girl in question is 30, therefore a woman and referred to as American in the trailer. Eh, semantics." < Semantics that many (or at least, numerous) Canadians would fuss over! g* But! I'll go flag-wave over in a corner somewhere.

Haha! Yes, semantics do matter, don't they. I was being sarcastic, though. *waves Canucks flag*

Maybe Madonna will pull an Affleck and be better BEHIND the camera? LOL

Heh! Well, I admit that Ben Affleck surprised me. It would be very surprising, though, if Madonna managed the same (disclaimer: one of the reasons is that I really, really don't like her, so it would take a lot to convince me. I just don't think she can do it.)

My bets are on "romantic drama", which really only just covers 10% of the story.
