Double yay for insomnia on a morning I have to teach. I could try and go back to bed, but I'd only have to be up in an hour.

In other news, the dishwasher is broken. Again. Washing dishes by hand is incredibly inefficient. :P

So the gas company had to change our water meter. To do this, they had to shut the gas off. After replacing the meter, they needed to turn the gas on, and then come in the house and check the gas appliances to make sure all was well. We don't make a big deal out of Christmas day for Z, and haven't bothered with the Santa Claus business yet--not sure if we ever will. But somehow, despite not knowing that today was Christmas, Z woke up at around 5am. Fortunately, I'd gone to bed earlier than usual on Christmas Eve, so it wasn't as traumatic as it could have been. I had this wonderful idea: I want to get a kiddie pool to set up on the deck, so I can let Z splash around in there, and not have to worry about sunblock, since it's under the roof. I had the deck reinforced to support that much weight when it was remodeled, without thinking of the other clever idea I'd need:

How would I drain the pool??

I am upstairs in my sewing room, which has windows overlooking the deck roof. Aaron is outside in the swingy chair on the deck. I know this, because I went outside to check, after hearing the ominous creaking noise coming through the roof and my windows.

It turns out suing the construction company isn't going to be so easy. When I called the county to find out who the registered agent is for Helix Homes, I discovered some very interesting facts:
