That is wonderful! I love that general to specific learning of words.
My four year old niece calls her older brother "brother." My theory is that at some point someone explained to her that her daddy's name is "Peter" but she should call him "daddy." I think she extrapolated that her brother's name is "Matthew" but she should call him "brother." It's adorable when she calls out "Come here, brother, I want to show you something, brother!"
Yay! This is my favorite part about children (and totally clues you in to the whole linguistics major thing): that by age 6, Z will know 14,000 words. The next four years are going to be fun!
