GaFilk was at a new hotel this year, for which we were profoundly grateful, having slept (rather, not slept) through too many nights of the awful heating system in the Holiday Inn. The Crowne Plaza was *much* more pleasant, and I hope we'll be back there next year.
We didn't get to stay for the whole con, on account of having other plans Saturday night. But I had a grand time at Tom Smith's concert on Friday, especially when you added in the incredibly expressive ASL interpreter. I can now sign "zombie fairy brains."
Saturday I worked on some quilt squares while the concerts and 2x10s went on. Peter Beagle's concert was a great treat--I hadn't realized he was a singer. It was especially funny, though, when his cell phone went off and interrupted his own concert. Brian's Toastmaster "concert" consisted of a presentation on DCTV, so now my zombified self has been broadcast to yet another group of geeks. This was followed by the Brobdingnagian Bards, who are every bit as adorable as I remember from
Fencon.
Then it was time to get ready for the Banquet. The band did a lot of swing dancy things this year, and I desperately gave it a shot, but I am just too out of shape and cumbersome for dancing. I went in the bathroom and cried.
Pictures here! (Mostly taken by Aaron; I was too tired at the banquet for much running around.)
