And speaking of costumes...

skellington just pointed out to me that the Friday night dance at Atlanta Varsity Showdown is a costume themed event. Hm...aside from the 50s dress, which I was going to wear at some point during the weekend anyway, which of my costumes is good to swing dance in?

Uh, that would be none. The only one that comes close is Jessica Rabbit, and I'm not sure about dancing in the red pumps. I'm not real steady on heels in general, and these are hard soled shoes that are only relatively comfortable for walking--dancing might be a problem.

So. A new costume? In a week and a half? It does occur to me I have most of what I need for a pirate costume...white peasant blouse, black vest, boots that take my orthotics and therefore wouldn't be hopeless to dance in...hey, even an eyepatch! Perfect! The cavalier hat with the big floopy feathers would be the same problem as the 50s cartwheel hat, but a bandanna would work. I'd have to leave off the sword, of course, but maybe a nice tame plastic dagger or pistol...

It occurs to me that the leather long coat that Aaron bought me at the Renaissance Faire would do quite well, but no way would I want to dance in it. Darn.
