So, today ended up being a busy day.

In the morning, I took mom out to the Nature Science Center. She had a wallaby sniffy her hand, got to pet rabbits and ferrets, and got to see otters and meercats; she was in seventh heaven. We did lunch at Bruegger's (salads all around) and I brought her home ( Read more... )

So, I took mom to the zoo today. There is a great advantage to going to the zoo in 90 degree weather - most North Carolinians are staying home in their native habitat, the air conditioning. Jeff had yesterday off, and it was a good day. He gamed, I played with spreadsheets and finances, we got stuff put into storage, we had a tasty late lunch with a friend, I heated up leftovers for dinner, we did a lot of talking, we got his mom's porch swing and pavilion (she got one of those portable camping pavilions so that she could have some ( Read more... )

Yesterday was a terrific, awesome, fun day. artisanal_xara and her little one came up, and we went to the Natural Science Center. Some of it is a little crappy - you can tell they're still finishing some of the exhibits - and some of it would be a lot more interesting when they're running programs, which they weren't doing yesterday. So, Tuesday I took my mom to the zoo. We had a fantastic time; we got along really well all day (wonder of wonders) and just in general had a splendid time.
