Social science degree

Hey all,

I'm a college student and a writer. I had a novel published when I was fourteen, spent all of high school writing, got in trouble for writing in class numerous times. Then I went to college, started working way too hard, and all my writing kind of fell by the wayside.

Fast forward to junior year. I land a job at the school newspaper, rediscover my old passion, and have a crisis. I want to major in journalism. Problem is, I only have three semesters left of college before I graduate - with a degree in anthropology.

I desperately want a job in journalism or publishing - writing, reporting, editing, anything of that nature. But it's more or less set in stone now that I'll have a BA in anthropology. Is all hope lost? With experience in journalism, can I sell myself as a journalist? Is there anything I can do to make myself more marketable as a journalist? Changing my major now is 100% not an option - financially, and emotionally, I honestly just can't swing staying here any longer.

If anyone has any tips, please let me know! I'm going a little crazy here, since all of my long-term plans got shot to hell when I realized what I really wanted to do. Am I freaking out over nothing, or will a social science degree be a huge handicap for a wannabe journalist?
