Hey, I'm a journo student in my final year with a question for print journalists.
I've done some phone interviews today and I dont have any devices to record the conversation with. What I did was listen intently and jotted down every single note and sentence I possibly could..
It is ethical to publish a story with quotes that give the general gist of what the talent was saying (as long as they werent taken out of context) and are recreated in the most accurate possible way.
Has anyone else done this before when they werent able to record a lengthy interview?
thanks
Jen
