Soooo... I've been doing a lot of thinking and planning in recent months. Since I've been asked repeatedly about my writing schedule via email, I figured I'd put it up for everyone to see. ;-)
I've got a list (and a ton of files) of things I'm working on for the next year or two. I had sworn up and down that Target was going to be the next thing I worked on after Soul Mates 4.
But it's not.
Not because I don't want to work on it. I really, really do. Richard and Ryan are practically screaming in my head for me to get with the program. The main issue with Target is the research. It's coming together, but it's doing so very, very slowly. If it was a matter of me being able to just read a book here and there to piece things together, I think it would have already been rewritten. But no...it can't be that easy. I have people (on both sides of the law, which is WAY interesting!) that I'm meeting with and talking to and getting their input on certain situations. When we all have busy schedules, it's hard to fit this stuff in. I've got 4 or 5 more things to check on and another trip to take, but then I believe we'll be good to go.
So, where does that leave Target in my schedule? Let's see.
Soul Mates 4 -- Due in by 15th of May. On schedule. Yay!
Chaser -- Nikolas and Sabaan. To be finished as soon as SM4 is sent off to my editor. 1/3 of the way complete.
Eternally Yours -- Needs Rewrites. Complete date = June 15th.
In the Shadows -- Needs Rewrites. Complete date = July 15th
Target -- Needs Heavy Rewrite. Waiting on research. Estimated Completion date = September 17th. It could also be much, much sooner than that. I'm going to try to work this in with the EY and ITS rewrites.
And here's where YOU help plan part of my schedule! There's been some interest here and there for a "prequel" novel -- where Lucien leaves his original coven and arrives in Houston. I'd been toying with the idea for a long while, but was unsure if there was any interest. There would be sex, yes, but there wouldn't be any real romance.
Poll SM - PrequelAfter all of that, things take a slightly different turn for a while. I've got an urban fantasy series to get started, a werewolf novel, and a contemporary romance to get written -- all for NY pubs. The outlines are made and I'm working on them here and there, but I'm concentrating on the rewrites I have in progress first. They won't take long, but I HAVE to get them out of the way.
Soul Mates 5 is next.
Then comes Enforcers -- a m/f novel (mostly) that follows EY and ITS.
The works in progress not mentioned above, but listed on my
website, come next, along with the prequel novel for Soul Mates if there's enough interest. If there's not, I'll just write it as I get the inspiration because *I* want to write it. It's possible there could be a short story written every once in a while, but I don't put those in my schedule. They typically don't pay enough for me to worry and freak out over.
Some people may not agree with the way I do things, but this is my method. I know what I can write and when. Writing novels while the kids are on Summer break and I'm running here and there and everywhere, dealing with a hubby on shift work, and the rest of my family that believes we should visit more? Heh. I'm not foolish enough to think I'll have the time or the energy.
