How to spend $50 for lunch at Subway.

It's very easy to get used to having things in a certain way. I suppose it's a form of mental laziness - just because things have always happened a certain way in the past does not mean that it will happen the same way next time. So, just prepare yourselves now. That's my advice to you.

For if you ever find yourself going to Hope, Arkansas (the birthplace of a certain Bill Clinton) you may want to have lunch. And you may want to have lunch at Subway, because you want to "eat fresh," or whatever. You may order your sandwich and they may ask you, "Would you like cheese on that?"

But just because every other Subway has provolone, don't expect that this time will be the same. Because it probably won't be. You could ask for cheddar though.

But that won't really be it. Because maybe you have a family ordering their stuff and you have $20 worth of food without provolone on it. And you pull out your card to pay and...

"We only take cash and checks."

You would have been wrong to expect that just because every other franchise in America takes credit cards, that doesn't mean that a Subway restaurant in Hope, Arkansas would take them. See, you should always ask prior to purchasing anything anywhere. "Do you accept money here? Or could I trade you a donkey for a Spicy Italian on Honey Oat?"

Then you might remember that you don't actually HAVE any cash. Nor can you GET cash because you just wrote a check for rent and you are pretty much stuck with nothing until payday. But here you have 5 sandwiches and they need to be paid for. So what you could do is pray that the rent check didn't go through yet and you could take $20 out of an ATM down the street and just be willing to pay the $2 service charge on either end of that transaction and then pay the overdraft fee that will be associated with the lack of funds when the check clears. That might work for ya,

When you return, you could say something like "You really should have a sign on the door saying that you only accept cash or checks."

"Yeah, we should. A lot of people complain about it. But, you'll just have to talk to the manager about it." My advice... just let it go.

The sandwich might be good anyway. But just because it always has been in the past...
