That surprises no one. Because, really, who'm I foolin'... I ain't no updater. (Remember the "geocities" days when I actually spent hours, if not DAYS on posts? like I actually did research and artwork and interviews? Sighhhh...)
Alright, so as I started to say - the four-year-old Trinity had drawn me an elephant and a monkey. Very cute, although, honestly, I could just as easily see a snowman and a lemur. And that's not a critique. It's just a statement of my distance from The LIttle Prince, I suppose. I must have been working on my airplane somewhere...
Two pictures. And I got to thinking... I wonder if young people think alike on these things. So I summoned Isabella, who is 6.
"Izzy, I have a really cool test for you. You wanna try it?"
"Yeah!"
I hold up the elephant. "What is this a drawing of?"
She kinda tilted her head to the side and squinched her eyes a bit. After a little deliberation she asks, unsure, "Is it a fly?"
SEE! I'm NOT the only one who can't tell it's an elephant! Whoo-hoo! "No, Izzy it's not a fly."
"Oh, well, it''s an elephant then."
Hahaha! What?! Are you serious? From a fly to an elephant in 3 seconds or less?! Ok, well, that's just too much. But she's no match for the monkey. So out comes the chimp drawing...
"That's a monkey."
No thinking. No second-guessing. I mean, if it's not a monkey, then what else could it possibly be?
So, Tam... ask Mykenna... cuz I'm jus' dyin' t'know... y'know?
