Zoe asks me to blow-dry her hair this morning with about 10 minutes before the bus comes. Sure, no problem. As I'm drying, she starts asking me for ideas on the science fair. She has to do a presentation TODAY! I hate when she does that. She always asks me for something as we're walking out the door.
She loves science and has been coming up with all kinds of ideas for the fair all year long. Of course I can't remember any of them now, under pressure! If she had bothered to mention it this weekend, we could have bought supplies and even practiced. Grrr!

Fleet this weekend after the Thread Show. She took a water bottle with her that I put a hole in the lid. She wants to try to replicate the sand patterns that have a pendulum that hangs from the ceiling. She also wanted to build a giant wheel to show the movement of guitar strings. Yeah, with less than 5 minutes to catch the bus.
Every day she comes home from school and I ask about her day. Nothing. She says she has no homework. She does. I don't know what it is though or how to help her. She's probably going to be held back. She already towers over the kids in her class and is more developed than any of them. I can't imagine her with kids a whole year younger. I just don't know how to help her.
She doesn't give a shit.
When I warn her she'll be held back she says she doesn't care. She says she wants to be homeless. It kills me that she doesn't care. I think I cared too much. I loved school. I remember crying because I couldn't go when I had walking pneumonia. I was afraid I'd miss something. I was afraid to fail. I still am. It goes against my grain to see her be so nonchalant about schoolwork.
Some days she just frustrates the hell out of me. I'm scared for her. She has no idea that it's going to get so much harder. School is supposed to be fun!
