(no subject)
hey you guys..
I'm so excited about this weekend! I don't know if I'm repeating from my last entry, so deal with it! :) This week has been kind of hard in band..not because people aren't cooperating, but it's been so stinkin hot! I think it's worse than August. Or at least I don't remember how bad August was, lol. I felt bad like all afternoon and night yesterday after practice. It was yucky. I'm pretty pleased with people in band this week..there hasn't been too much talking. I think it's just too hot to do that, lol. But marching around the school...grrrrrrrrrr...that's another story. I don't know what their deal is. Oh yeah, they do great in basics block while Stegall and Waters are watching, but could they put in any effort the rest of the time? Nooooo, anything but that.
Classes are going well..I got over 100 on our A&P presentations, and I got 100 on that test. I think I also finally got an A on the infamous Mrs. Head tests :) We had to write an AP prompt on Oedipus Rex today..but we read that like 2 or 3 weeks ago..so needless to say, I included very few quotes and examples in that paper. :(
Trumpet's going ok..I need to get my solo for solo fest..I'm getting really bored with the all-state tryout pieces although they're definitely not perfect yet. I'm practicing nearly every day during 3rd block, but I really need a big piece of music to tackle plus all these technical studies I'm doing...
violin is like..ewwwwwwwww....it's just not happening for me right now. You'd think I would figure out that practicing makes you better..but I've just never had as much interest in that instrument as trumpet. Maybe it's b/c I've never had orchestra like I've had band. It's just really hard to motivate myself because I never compete or anything on it. (And I'm too afraid to try out for all-state orchestra on it because I'm so pathetic right now!)
did I mention that I was excited about this weekend? I really love this show :sigh: And I love going to competitions..especially these where the bands are so incredible.
