I have been practising getting around a lot lately, and doing more chewing stuff too. I can't crawl but I can bum shuffle a little bit. What I am best at is still rolling everywhere. I have used my chewing and rolling skills ot best effect in the living room. We have an electrical cable from the socket to the hifi. The hifi has lots of lights. I will try to pull it down soon. Anyway, I have been eyeing up the cable for a long time but Mummy keeps moving me away from it. Yesteday I had a major breakthrough! I got to the cable while Mummy was making my dinner. When she came in I gave her a big gummy smile even though I had a big thick white chewy wire from ear to ear. I pulled it very hard and the hifi moved a bit but it didn't fall off the table. It is not near the edge so I have worked out I would have to pull and pull and pull to get at it.
I have started to get onto all fours by leaning forwards when I am sitting and rolling over my legs. I stay up for a while but then I like to lie on my tummy and pretend to swim.
I have discovered lots of new sounds. I was into wawa wa wa for a while but I'm quite grown up and have grown out of that now. Last week it was maa mmaa mam mmmmma ma ma and then bleh bleh bl bleah bla. This week it is da da da daaaa dadada da. And, most excitingly, I can make clicking noises with my tongue.
I still don't have any teeth but this means I have not been grumpy. Mummy says that all her friend's babies were were grouchy when their teeth were coming through so I am quite happy that I have none.
We went for a walk round the marina in West Kirby on Sunday. I was in a special rucksac thing on Daddy's back and Mummy walked in between Daddy and the waves on the jetty. She got very wet and we saw crabs, mussels and cockles which I tried to get hold of but wasn't allowed. The sea was really noisy and I got water on my face which tasted nice. I licked my lips for a long time. Eventually I went to sleep because the fresh air was quite tiring.
Soon we will have to buy me a pair of shoes for Nina's christening. They aren't for walking but they keep my socks on so that my feet don't get cold. Mummy thinks I am a size 4! I have big feet like Daddy (size 12).
Next week I am going to the hospital for my 8 month check even though I will be 9 months old the day after.
