MASTERPOST Chapter 10: Lucifer doesn't know how to deal with this attractive young man who just entered his life.
Lucifer Novak was the second eldest of the Novak siblings. He was second by a mere two minutes and 23 second, as Michael, the oldest, enjoyed reminding him every goddamn day. Lucifer never quite understood why his father had chosen to name him that. As teachers and people have constantly remarked, Lucifer isn’t exactly the name you want to be giving to a child. His father had merely said that he wanted to name all of his children after angels, and that Michael was the first angel made and Lucifer the second and that was that. Truth be told, Lucifer was never really bothered by his name - if anything, he enjoyed using it to his advantage. You could always tell who the religious types were. Generally speaking, nobody wanted to mess with someone named Lucifer. When their father has disappeared after Castiel’s birth, he and Michael got the company. Michael, re-instating how he was the oldest, became head of the company and Lucifer was second in command and would only be head if Michael were to ‘be unable to head the company’. Things could be arranged. But not only did they have the company in their hands, but also the welfare of their five younger siblings at the age of 18. It wasn’t the easiest thing, but they somehow managed.
Lucifer somehow found himself back home early on a nice Friday afternoon. He walked into their Estate, turning into the kitchen and was surprised at what he saw. A tall, very tall, brunette with a wide, strong built, shirtless and hair wet, droplets dripping down his back was going through the fridge, pulling out the pitcher of Ice-tea. A wide smile made its way on Lucifer’s face, until it was quickly replaced with a snarl “Who are you?! What are you doing in my kitchen?!”
The intruder’s eyes widen, mouth opening to try and say something but was quickly cut off by Castiel, his youngest little brother, walking into the room, himself, shirtless and with a towel draping around his shoulders. Obviously he had just been swimming in the pool. “Lucifer? What are you doing home so early?” Lucifer paused, reeling back a bit to survey the situation. He pursed his lips, lifting a brow. “I’m assuming he’s with you?” asked Lucifer, purposely avoiding the question. It was none of Castiel’s business. Castiel nodded “Yeah! This is my friend Sam Winchester. Sam, this is my brother Lucifer.” Sam nodded, smiling shyly as he held out his hand. “It’s nice to finally meet you!” Lucifer eyed the hand for a minute, not one for shaking, and then shrugged, shaking the other’s hand. “The pleasure is all mine. Believe me.” And then he turned his attention to his little brother “Castiel. This is the Sam that Michael mentioned before, right? Do you usually bring him over?” Sam stiffened at the question. Castiel huffed “Naw, I usually go to his place, but I figured that we might as well use the pool while we still can. It’s unusual for the weather to be this nice in October.” Lucifer nodded, the side of his lip curling up. “Hmm, I have to agree. It’s unusual for you to bring anybody over, Castiel. Feel free to bring Sam here over anytime.” Castiel frowned slightly and Lucifer smiled at Sam and then turned and walked out of the kitchen, heading to his room.
The elder Novaks had the pleasure of taking over the master bedrooms of the Estate after their father left. Michael, of course, the asshole, got the biggest room and Lucifer the second biggest. Both rooms fortunately had adjoining offices so at least they didn’t have to work in the same room. (If they ever did, Lucifer just might finally kill Michael with his pen or something). Once in his office, Lucifer set to work. The Novaks controlled a lot. It was an internationally acclaimed company with offices all over the world. The major company in Europe was controlled by their uncle Zachariah while they controlled the company in North America. And since they did a major buyout of many, many, many companies in different sectors (a very hostile takeover, thank you), Lucifer had access to things that maybe he really shouldn’t have. Oh well. He quickly went to work. This Sam Winchester was intriguing and worth the research. It only took a few moments until Lucifer was looking at Sam’s criminal record (non-existent), his school records (rather impressive and top of his class with Castiel, no wonder the two were friends), and all other things he could find. He was about to go looking into things more…private, but then noticed that his father John, was an FBI agent and then quickly disregarded the idea. Novak co. didn’t need any attention from the FBI. Lucifer frowned. If he wanted more information concerning Sam, he’ll have to do it the old fashion way.
While the weather was still nice, Sam wound up coming over to the Novak Estate pretty often. Apparently, the boy had enjoyed swimming. Lucifer smiled, he had hooked up the Estate’s security cameras to his work computer so that at around 2:30pm every day, his monitor would show the footage from the feeds so he’d know the exact moment when Sam Winchester would show up at the Estate and then he’d look at his schedule. If he could leave, he’d pack his things and head over to the house. Sometimes, he’d wonder near the pool area, watching his brother and Sam play in the pool. Sometimes, they’d be joined by a third man. A much older man, apparently, this was Dean Winchester, Sam’s older brother. He hadn’t bothered to introduce himself to this one. If he couldn’t go, he’d merely watch the security feed from the pool, watching Sam as they played in the pool. Even so, with all of this, it just wasn’t enough.
A couple of days later, on a Saturday, Lucifer decided that instead of going straight to the office with Michael, he’d wait for Castiel to wake up. By 8am, Castiel stumbled out of his room, groggily, and made his way to the kitchen, where Lucifer was waiting. “Castiel.” Castiel jumped, turning around surprised “Lucifer! What are you still doing here? How come you’re not at work?” Lucifer cleared his throat, once again, neglecting to answer the question “I’d like for you to tell me everything you can about your friend Sam.” Castiel stiffened, obviously very uncomfortable with this line of questioning. “Why?!” Lucifer sighed, rolling his eyes. “Just tell me what I need, Castiel. I don’t have time to waste with your stupid inquiries.” Castiel grunted “You already know all you need to. Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have to go get ready.” Lucifer lifted a brow, frowning. “To do what?” “Have a life!” “Will you be seeing Sam?” “I’m sure as hell not going to tell you!” and then Castiel stormed off. Lucifer frowned, that was unproductive. Oh well, with Castiel gone for the day, he had new…options he could explore.
