MTV Week 3
This new week was about as exciting as the last. Actually, this week went by much quicker but with less to do. I’ve realized now that it might be simply that I find things to do much quicker and I don’t mind sitting down and relaxing behind the computer once in a while.
I met another girl in the dubbing room. I swear that place has become a social gathering area. Except by social I mean usually me and some random person. I think her name was Suzie. She was from the VH1 and Logo area. If I’m repeating myself from last week I’m terribly sorry. Unfortunately I have a horrible memory and it’s easy for me to mix in my weeks with other ones. Anyways, so she works for them and has been working there for about three months now. She actually worked for New Line Cinema before in publicity. I guess the story behind her is that she always wanted to do production for a movie company but ultimately, it came down to the point that there were never positions available. So, she took an alternate route and decided to work in a different department and try that way. I guess it didn’t work because she hated working there and she was fortunate enough to find a production management position for VH1. She told me that it was what she wanted to do and that she was happy it was the management area of production because it gave her a good combination of being on and off the set. I was quite enthralled with the fact that someone like her, who had little experience with media, could get a job with someone like VH1. I saw my own worth rise a bit with the words she spoke. I had to leave shortly after that.
Still working on the project for Melissa and I’m very happy she had me do it. I’ve been discovering lots of new music and movies that come out each week and it’s incredibly fun being able to find good music. I have a hard time expanding since I’m not quite a big pop music listener and my tastes range far and wide. This gives me a chance not to only explore different music aspects but increase my own arsenal.
Things are still going well and James was going to give me a side project to do as well but things got carried away at work and we were unable to do so because of time constraints on Thursday. I’m sure though that he’ll start it up once I get back in the office on Tuesday.
The only thing I could really say I want more of is personal interaction with the higher ups. I was happy when Lauren invited me to watch episodes of Rob & Big with her but not it seems that it’s not happening often. I hope my luck changes for the better and she’ll start asking for my opinion more.
