Hot Wheels (1:72 to 1:64 scale, roughly) would be perfect if I were using true 25mm minis and following true Savage Worlds scale, but I'm using re-based *Clix (HeroClix, HorrorClix, ActionClix, Mage Knight) minis, which are more in the 30-something mm scale range. My old metals would look just fine next to Hot Wheels ... except that I don't have much in the way of "moderns" to populate a zombie apocalypse setting. I was able to get troves of Clix minis on the very cheap (sometimes 5-10 cents each, sometimes even less) when WizKids was floundering and most of the lines got discontinued, and the local comics stores ended up dumping "grab bags" of singles they had on stock.

For the longest time, they'd break up CMG boxes and put the "singles" on display with individual pricing, charging $25 or more for some "rare" plastic figure, and maybe $1 or even $.25 for one of the myriad "commons." Considering that for metal minis, the main source in game stores these days would be from Reaper and its ilk, and their figures are running the range of $4-$6 each now (ouch!) that made them pretty attractive as an alternative for gaming. It didn't hurt that they're pre-painted (even if I touch it up, at least it's at least partially painted, or base-coated), that it's pretty easy to kitbash them (snip off a part, use a pinning drill, and pin on another), and they store more easily than metals (I don't have to put each and every one in its own foam-lined square to avoid having the paint dinged off).

The downside in this case would be that the Clix minis have gotten progressively bigger over time. Early Mage Knight "human" and "elf" figures had such shallow detailing that faces were pretty much featureless; they seemed to overcome this largely by making figures larger. A while ago, I would have classified Clix minis as 32mm scale, but with the most recent ones I'm thinking 35mm is probably closer to the mark. (There's an awful lot of variety in the HeroClix line, though, as it is for superheroes after all.)
