While Venezuela is buying billions of dollars worth of weapons from Russia, it still has a two billion dollar contract with Spain to build eight warships.

I'm sure that the Venezuelan poor will be glad to know that the taxes that make it harder to buy groceries are going to a good cause. If the most expensive thing in the world is the world's second strongest navy, what's the cost of the world's one-hundredth or so?

Four are 2,300 ton corvettes, and the other four are 1,500 ton coastal patrol boats.

Now, the F-18 pilots mustn't get greedy. They should leave some for gun and torpedo actions. Our surface gunners and submarine crews need training too!

These ships are basically for the Venezuelan coast guard, and the two ship types are similar to U.S. Coast Guard ships. However, it's expected that the Venezuelan ships will be more heavily armed, with anti-ship missiles from West European or Russian sources.

Thank you, European allies and friendly Russians. We need some exercise for the Aegis operators.

Same with anti-aircraft missiles.

Ditto for our pilots, flare and chaff simulators just aren't the same as the real thing.

I wonder if it bothers Chavez that he's on a course to cause hundreds of young Venezuelan men to lose their single irreplacable life, just to earn a few Experience Points for our servicemen?

Naah. He's a Commie, he lives for the chance to do that!
