South Korea Wimps Out Before Taliban Threats

I was particularly struck by this ...

The government insists that faced with the deaths of the remaining captives it had little room to maneuver, and ultimately had no choice but to make a deal with the Taliban despite assertions that Korea did not negotiate with terrorists.

In saying this, South Korea is essentially telling terrorists: "Take and kill some of us if you want us to do what you want."

Given some of their previous actions, especially regarding North Korean nuclear rearmament, I'm inclined to argue that we should begin withdrawing from the alliance with South Korea. If they are this wimpy, there is no way that we could commit our blood or treasure to their defense. After all, Kim Jong Il could grab a few of them at any time, start killing them, and thus force them to do anything he wanted.

Ah well. It's not like we ever really respected South Korea. Bunch of dog-munchers ...
