A MLP Related Memorial Day Thought

Last night I slept safe in my bed and awoke after a good night's sleep.  I did not fear that, in the night, the enemies of my country would come and destroy my house and kill myself or my wife or any of my loved ones.  I take this for granted, as do most Americans.  Even though I know better, having extensively studied both military and social ( Read more... )

I will not use the term "radical islam" any more. There is no such thing as radical islam. There is only islam.

They aren't perverting it, they're practicing it. They aren't disobeying, they're among to few (who at this point*) are willing to openly obey.

* - "When this order became known to the champions of Islam, they drew their swords and put their prisoners to death. One hundred thousand infidels, impious idolaters, were slain on that day. Maulana Nasir-ad-din Omar, a counsellor and man of learning, who had never killed a sparrow in all his life, now, in execution of my order, killed fifteen idolatrous Hindus, who were his captives." - Tamerlane

The thing about Islam is that it is a bully-philosophy; essentially a way to run a society through bullying on a massive scale. Its great weakness is that it cannot compete freely under Natural Law with other sucbcultural patterns; it can only triumph where its bullying is aided by special legal status. On the largest scale, it succeeds on the battlefield only by superior aggression and suicidal bravery: this only works when it has either overwhelming numbers on its side, or it faces a demoralized, divided or unprofessional foe. The special circumstances of the wars between the Eastern Romans and the Persians, and the religious divisions within the Eastern Roman Empire, gave this noxious meme a chance to spread beyond the land of its origin in the first place ( ... )

What you said reminds me of a thought I had: radical feminism doesn't exist. Second wave feminism was founded by Red diaper babies as a marxist propaganda instrument like all ideas descended from critical theory. The very nature of "patriarchy" and their desire to eliminate inevitably end in the destruction of the family and American values.

Yep. I refuse to use "radical", "extreme", "militant" - any of those qualifiers.

Islam is Islam. Period!

The term "radical" is still technically-useful as a way of distinguishing between those Muslims who are willing to use violent means right now and those who are inhibited by fear or humanity from doing so. What we should realize is that pretty much all Muslims smart enough to even slightly grasp the underlying philosophy and not extremely nice or cynical approve of the underlying premise that it is moral and indeed proper to spread the Faith by force. They no more consider this wrong than a Christian would praying.

Perhaps "militant Islam" would be a more useful/descriptive/specific term for this distinction?
