Not a lot of time to post this morning, but I thought I should make this point:
Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have, since the Libyan Consulate attack, been spinning overtime about how much they feel the movie was wrong and trying to soothe wounded Muslim feelings. In short, apologizing to the Muslim world for The Innocence of Muslims.
This is stupid.
It is stupid, first of all, because the government of the United States of America neither made, nor has the right to dictate the content, of American movies. Hence they are apologizing for something over which they have no control. This means that tomorrow someone could make an even more obnoxious movie, and then the Muslims will turn to Obama and Clinton as "liars."
It is stupid, secondly, because it reinforces the linkage in the minds of the peoples of the world between the movie and the attacks. There is in fact no such linkage: the movie has not attacked or physically-hurt anyone. It is the Terrorists who have been attacking and physically hurting people. Obama and Clinton are doing the Terrorists' propaganda work for them.
It is stupid, more profoundly, because the production of a movie by persons on American soil is not a legitimate provocation to violence of anyone else, anywhere on the planet. The President and Secretary of State should be emphasizing tha the attack was unprovoked and will be responded to as the act of vile barbarism that it was, not giving the attackers justification for their aggressions.
Finally, it is stupid because we were the only ones hurt in this case. And it is the job of Obama and Clinton to change that state of affairs. We need to start hurting the members of Ansar al Shara, and anyone who is foolish enough to associate with them, until the survivors are too busy cowering in bunkers to attempt to take over Libya, or take over anything save shallow graves dug by American bombers.
Let's hope that when we have a President again, in 2013, he handles this better than has the Lightworker-in-Chief.
