A week in the life...

I'm taking a study break, at the moment. Discovered the local Paneta Bread - kind of like SFBC for those of you near Oxford, but the food is a little better and seems a bit cheaper. I think I finally have a study hangout - good, cheap food, couches, tables, and wireless. What more does a grad student need?

In other news, here a taste of what my semester will be like:

Tomorrow: have read first 4 chapters of "History of Archaeology", be prepared to lead the discussion on Chapter 4.
Monday: finished reading a book, "What is Science?" (a discussion of the history/philosophy/theory/methods of science) and be prepared to contribute to in-class discussion.
Tuesday: read next 4 chapters in "History of Archaeology", be prepared to lead a discussion
Wednesday: Read the introduction and first 3 chapters of "Evolution vs. Creationism: An Introduction", write a 1 page summary of each chapter.
Thursday: 4 more chapters of "History of Archaeology", ditto on dicussion

That's my first week's worth of assignments. It continues pretty much like that, with chapters/book/articles plus preparing a 20+ minute lecture on a topic of my choosing, deciding on a thesis topic, writing thesis proposal, thesis defense, thesis research, fieldwork, possibly completing an IRB (Internal Review Board, because I may be doing oral interviews), plus grad assistant work and TA'ing one of my prof's intro classes.

Oh yeah!
