Gurren Lagann

I checked out the first two episodes of what's been called "The Anti-Evangelion" in some circles tonight, during SciFi's Ani-Monday programming.

Maybe I'm becoming more easily entertained as I age, but I really liked it.  The nonsensical setting, gonzo action, deliberately over-the-top emoting and offbeat mecha designs all combined for one fun show.

It just gets better and better. It doesn't take itself fully seriously, except for when it does, for impact.

Exactly. Just keep an open mind with it. Gurren Lagann is my best anime of 2007. Really loved every bit.
