Gurren Lagann
I checked out the first two episodes of what's been called "The Anti-Evangelion" in some circles tonight, during SciFi's Ani-Monday programming.
Maybe I'm becoming more easily entertained as I age, but I really liked it. The nonsensical setting, gonzo action, deliberately over-the-top emoting and offbeat mecha designs all combined for one fun show.
And this is a Gainax robot show? Wow.
I'm hooked, for at least the next couple episodes.
Even the insanely campy gay guy didn't annoy me. He actually got some of the best lines.
