So the most adorable thing happened to me a couple days ago while at work....
This guy in his 40's or 50's came in and I did the usual routine, "you need help with anything sir?" and he asked about our rabbits. We just had some dwarf bunnies come in and I showed a couple of them to him. He said he was looking for his daughter because they had just found out that she was deaf. I told him about the rabbits and as he was leaving, he asked my name and he said "thank you jon, you are very nice." Well, he came back later that evening with his wife and daughter. His daughter was around 3, curly hair and your stereotypical three year old. They showed her the bunnies but she was distracted by the other things in the store too. She started making the signs for the different animals. That alone was tugging at my heart-strings. Well, her parents finally got her focused on the rabbits and asked me to get one out so she can see it. At that moment, I learned the sign for bunny. They told me that she has been making he sign for rabbit a lot and they figured they should spoil her a little. Well, mom and dad took her over to the bench that was next to Izod's window so she could sit down and hold the pet. They decided that they wanted the rabbit. Well, I put the rabbit in a box and started to walk around the counter and the little girled reached out her arms and gave me a hug. It was probably one of the most endearing moments that I have had in the store. It made me think about why I still work there when I could easily take what I know and get a better paying job at some other petstore. She reminded me that I work there for though moments like that. I still work there because I like to see people like that little girl's life a little happier with a pet. Animals make people so happy and I thank God that I'm fortunate enough to do what I do.
