Just saw parts of the grammys...heh...this entry is all about green day because well, they piss me off....lets first talk about them winning...their music isn't very talented when in comparison to other artists and their cd is hardly the best cd to come out this year (check out the lostprophets cd if you don't believe me). next lets talk about

Look up the number of people believed to have been killed by Saddam by his regime. In fact, Saddam tried to commit genocide with the Kurdish people in the north. Under that logic, since we lost more people fighting the Nazis in WW2 than Hitler killed of his own people, we should've have been fighting.
I'm definitely not implying that Green Day is the ONLY band taking advantage of a bad situation and it is a shame that they do it.
There are not very many countries if any that fought for their freedom the same way that we did. In fact, I don't believe there are any that fought against a world superpower (like britain was at the time of our independance) and won. India was practically handed their independance and Australia and Canada are the same way. When I said Australia was better it was not to imply that it was better completely. It was better in a Cancun sort of way. Great place to vacation. If you burned an Australian Flag in Australia you would get your ass kicked, i promise. The same goes for other countries as well. It isn't a uniquely American thing. It is about pride for your country. Every single country has it but few countries have the same history as ours does. 3,743,364. Thats the number of people who have died under the American flag during war. Those people deserve more respect than they get and they definitely deserve more than Green Day gave them. But if you look up the number of people who have their freedom because of us, i promise that it would be larger. We have a responsibility as the world's most powerful nation to help those that are like we once were. Surprisingly, it was who France helped us during our independance.
You can't teach somebody how to fish if they're not old enough to use the rod and reel. It will be a while before the Iraqis can stand on their own two feet but we have to be there to provide a crutch until they can. We need to see it all the way through.
In your response to "If a county really wanted to, they could easily overthrow a government.": Saddam belongs to the smallest muslim majority in Iraq and they use fear to control people. Fear is incredibly powerful as I'm sure you know. And when fear doesn't work, he uses nerve gas and automatic weapons. Most Iraqis aren't gun-toting, NRA wannabes. They're just people and they don't have the means in which to stand up to Saddam.
