The broken story
Digimon Adventure 02 was both the season, where Toei Animation tried to kill the entire old Adventure universe, while at the same time introducing 2 entirely new evolution lines for Digimon;armour evolution and digimon fusion, all in the limits of 50 episodes.
And then everything just CRASHED!
The charecter design introduced 4 entirely new "chosen children" while despartely trying to hang on to the orignal chosen 8. And then we also have Akiyama Ryo, who is entirely an different story!
And lets not even start with Wallace!
Too much stuff in too little time! The Digimon movies were also reaching out to the wold, but now mostly contributed to hype and unrealistic expectations. Toei animation visioned thing such as online Digimon gaming, eventough Bandai had no plans like that what so ever. Both the movies and animation series finaly endet up living a life of there own.
Digimon Adventure and Digimon Adventure 02 were basicly 1 giant techno bubble mostly for advertising purposes. Toeis work was very good and difficult to ignore by animation experts and fans everywhere. Hower it all eventually became just 1 giant bubble. Things started to calm down by the time the Adventure universe was out of the picture, and Bandai moved onto Digimon Tamers and Frontier.
Just as Taichi became a symbol of everything that was good in the original Adventure, Daisuke became a symbol of evertything that was bad in Digimon Adventure 02, and thats a lot said! Too much to say about this topic, so will have to return to it later.
Toei had however(with Daisukes big help)executed the secret "kill order" for the Adventure universe, where Bandai had no plans of returning EVER again!
Bandais screwing around with the Digimon Adventure universe was related to a lot of things. I think they made the fundamental decision to continue the Digimon universe wider, and didnt want to risk "burning out" the old chosen children, so instead they brought in new ones and entirely new universe, but by doing so endet up butchering the origina Adventure!
After Digimon Adventure a lot of the Digimon boom endet up becoming a bust. Bandai wanted to focus on entrely new Digimon universes. Do to technical reasons im going to return to the infamous Digimon Adventure 02 later, but now, lets focus on Digimon Tamers and Frontier!
