today was orange and it was orange hot out, having dropped to a high of 91. the thunderstorms have blown in to chase away the heat, but as i was driving westward home from the grocer a bit ago i was treated to an unlikely bright orange disk just on the horizon despite the fact that the rest of the sky was black and grey with lines of blue-edged ( Read more... )

it was only a coincidence that i had the dubious distinction of being in my hometown sunday morning when the grand river flooding brought it to its highest point, setting a record.
our mayor declared a state of emergency, which merited a couple sentences in a long ap national article about all of the cities affected by the april flooding ( Read more... )
