Jon...thank you so much for posting this. It really made me understand what you are going though.
I've heard of Tinnunits before, being a music fan and knowing that Pete Townshend suffers from it, but I had no idea it could be this severe.
Are you hearing problems due to damage to ear via loud noises over life, or is it just something you've developed? My apologies if you've already said.
Be strong! We're all with you, and we're all listening. :)
Fortunately, the ringing isn't always as loud as it is on the video, at least for me. Yesterday was the worst it had been in weeks--almost as bad as the video. I was in pretty bad shape yesterday. Today it's subsided a bit and life is more bareable.
I didn't know Pete Townsend had it. That sucks.
Tinnitus is not really a disease, it's a symptom, and there are many things that can cause it. One of them, of course, is long-term exposure to loud sound and I can see why Townsend would get that. In my case, though, it's highly unlikely since I can count of the fingers of my two hands the number of times in my life I've been to loud rock concerts; not once within the last 5 years.
I'm not sure what has caused it. I have a bunch of theories. My Chinese doctor says "dampness." I'm not sure what that means. I just hope he knows what he's doing because he's the only one who says he can cure me.
