I’ve been trying to explain what my tinnitus sounds like with the best words that I can think of to describe it. But I just found a video on YouTube that does it far better than any words I can write.
This guy used the mechanics of video and audio editing to reproduce a pretty accurate representation of the sound that’s inside my head. It’s not exact, but it’s pretty damn close.
I thought I would share it with you so that you can better understand why this is driving me so crazy. In this video, the sound only lasts for about 20 seconds (it actually starts at 51 seconds into it because the videomaker wants to demonstrate first what the music sounds like to normal ears, for the sake of comparison) but in my head, the sound is constant. Granted, sometimes it gets lower in volume, but it never goes away.
Try to imagine what it’s like to listen to this sound, nonstop, for over ten weeks, now. Then maybe you can understand why I’m having so much trouble dealing with just the little daily aspects of life, not to mention bigger things like a father with a broken rib.
