I wasn't thinking about your post at all when I wrote that. I really did like what you had to say on it and if people make the point that music and stardom seem to get cheaper with every reality show then I'd probably agree with them. I'm not offended because i don't associate what you were talking about with what I've done. Our success wasn't overnight and it wasn't determined by a studio audience any more than anyone's success is, and we lasted longer than anyone thought we would, and I can look back on it now with a wisdom that i couldn't six months ago.. if i sound bitter it's probably because I do know now more than ever that what you said in some parts of your post is right. The audience is fickle and has a narrow view of things.. they don't see beyond their own TV screen and they don't see beyond what they want to buy at the moment.. a bigger and bigger number of people don't seem to think that if you can get up and sing a good version of a song everyone knows then you're good. people might laugh to hear me say things like this but let them. no one knows it more than me.

It is turning into a gimmick.. it's a bigger gimmick than S Club ever was. It's a gimmick where one person is getting rich and a thousand other people are just trying as hard as they can to make it to the top of the pile without really being ready to do that. It's just another example of how people are just sort of chewed up and spat out.. and you're right, they don't have to sign the contract. I didn't have to either. it's just another example of the very smart business types making gobs of money off the people who don't know any better.. I've just never seen it so out there and accepted as I do lately. if I sound bitter at all it's because of that.. because the whole world is cheering for it now and some days I don't want to see anyone do well in this business at all, even if it's introducing a bartender to a few people I know. If I sound angry then maybe I am.. it's not anger at you though. It's anger at the industry.. Simon.. people.. myself. That's really what I was getting at.

I'll use it.
