Carnival

Hannah spent Friday through Saturday night with Girl Scout friends and troop leader down in Gwinnett, so Sarah & I went to pick her up yesterday. Apparently, she had been to a little carnival the day before, and she wanted to go back again, and bring her friend BrIBri. So, that is what we did. It was fun. Sarah & I rode only two rides, but they were surprisingly good for a parking lot carnival. Then we left the girls for a half hour or so - they had "all you can ride" bracelets ($20 each, ugh) - and walked to a nearby China Panda for lunch. (The girls had already eaten, just shortly before we picked them up.) The food quality wasn't great, but I hadn't had Mongolian chicken in quite awhile, so it was a treat. This was at the corner of Beaver Ruin and Indian Trail, the same shopping center where I used to shop at Titan's, and where there was a restaurant we used to go to sometimes for family Friday dinners, so Sarah & I did some reminiscing.

We returned to find Hannah "in pain", albeit in a good mood. They'd ridden spinning rides so much that she had made herself sick (not vomiting, but not feeling well, and with a headache). Still, she wanted to ride three more rides before we left, which we did not deny. Our thought was that if she could stand it and wanted to go for it, oh well, it's not going to kill her. But watching her on her very next ride, it was clear she was no longer having fun - she had that "sick" expression on her face that every parent knows! I was sitting on a bench to watch them, and when she got off the ride, she came over, laid down, and used my lap for a pillow. Poor thing! So, we called it then and left - at that point, the kids did not complain about not getting in their final two rides. We took Brianna home (What a nice, sweet girl!), and Hannah slept in the back seat all the way home.

In other news, it's going to be a very small Thanksgiving. I invited my whole family of origin, but nearly all have declined due to work obligation, distance & travel expense, previous commitment, or health issues. The one maybe is my oldest sister Sue. Her husband is currently incarcerated due to a DUI accident, and is scheduled to be released this week. She says she'll need to talk to him about what he would like to do before they decide.
