So sinec we decided that the existing Linux
rdesktop software would be acceptable for use by SoThin's existing clients we now come to a new stage. We need to be able to install Linux (currently
Ubuntu) from a USB drive to client machines. That's already doable but what I need to do is to be able to put in a USB stick, install Linux and then run a simple script (simple to run, that is) to configure and install software. Principally to configure Linux so that rdesktop starts with the machine and the user is totally locked out of *all* other functionality. No terminals, file browsers, applications.
I';m planning on doing a server installation and then the script will install packages containing Gnome and rdesktop. It will also try and copy over configuration files for the installed user.
Has anybody on my flist done anything like this before? Maybe for kiosk machines?
