Why in the world are people even considering giving money to a woman who is obviously mentally ill, for her illness? (The news radio I was listening to earlier today said it was Oprah who was approaching the girl, not that the girl had agents who were contemplating approaching Oprah. I'm a little less on-edge with this version.)
I can maybe appreciate a sponsorship for diapers and other needs. I just think this is more of a pitch to Dr. Phil for help than Oprah for star-making. I don't think that I could stomach the idea of a society that would reward and propagate this kind of illness rather than pity and treat it.
On a completely random side-note, I checked out the Oprah site to see if there was any comment. Instead, I saw under the "Everyone's Talking About!" section, "Was Jesus Gay?" Yes. That's exactly the conversation this country needs and is ready for right now. (I wanted to come up with an equally bad analogy of topics that could further tear America apart in this era of divisiveness, but I couldn't think of anything anywhere near as bad as this.)
