Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest

triplesvet, if you are reading this - don't kill me, I only knew I was going to see this at the last minute (thought it would be Superman until then).

I enjoyed it very much until perhaps two-thirds of the way through. Then I started getting a bit disturbed with where things were going... and distracted by Norrington, and where his loyalties lay. XD There are too many squid-like tentacles and swordfights, but so there were too many skeletons and swordfights in the original.

If the first movie was Jack's movie, this one is most definitely James Norrington's movie. :D There shall be fanfiction. Lots, and lots, and LOTS of fanfiction

and

SPOILERS FOLLOW.

- What the Hell has gotten into Elizabeth?? Not that we don't understand why she would dump Orlando for Johnny, but... Well, maybe it's just the abrupt ending that's really bothering me here, since I find it highly disturbing that Will and Elizabeth haven't even DISCUSSED her attraction to Jack. Isn't this a Disney movie? Aren't the heroes supposed to reconcile? (Seriously, if I had watched this as a six-year-old, I would be marked psychologically for life. But apparently not as a 13-year-old? S. was like, "Well, there was foreshadowing in the first movie, you know. On the desert island..." [He remembers that?])

- How come the monkey's still undead, if the pirates aren't?

- OMFG Bootstrap talking about the past.

- OMFG Norrington.

- Does the ending mean that there will be no Jack until halfway through the 3rd movie, because we must find him at the end of the world, or wherever people go when eaten by giant krakens? Also, does the ending mean that Elizabeth REGRETS HER ACTION, st00p1d? Right after having done it? Also, does the ending mean that Will still, er, cares for Jack despite the fact that his fiancee appears to be in love with Jack? Also, does the ending mean that... okay, I hate this ending. Fiercely and passionately.

- Apparently I am conditioned to feel comfort when facing warm and fuzzy Disney endings, and constipated when 2.5 hrs of chasing a treasure chest around results in THE TREASURE IN THE BAD GUY'S HANDS. I don't care if Disney and Hollywood are cliché and unrealistic! I am proud of wanting warmth and fuzziness. >_<

And now, 2 days before leaving for China, my mp3 player apparently ERASED ALL SIX GIGABYTES OF MUSIC on its memory. Am I even remotely annoyed?
