Okay, here's the final part of our northern trip,
Rybachy Peninsula.
Map of Rybachii and Srednii with our GPS track and key locations:
Almost whole peninsula is abandoned
Ghosts of small villages and military settlements
Just a perfect setting for some b-rate horror film
Some roads went on coastline...
guarded by old permanent fire positions.
A signs of war.
We met WW2 fire positions quite often there
The old lighthouse at cape Nemetsky, now abandoned
(there is a new lighthouse half of kilometer west)
Northernest part of our trip
Another signs left by human activity there. Fuel barrels and other garbage.
Our camp at the morning: +9°C(48°F), drizzling rain and strong wind, our tent almost blown away
That time, back in Moscow: +40°C, heavy smoke from the forest fires :P
Koshak at the heart of birchwood. Yes, we found out we was camping inside the forest 0.0
Yes, a real
dwarf birch forest =^_^=.
Abandoned town
4 storey buildings build by arctic standarts
thick walls, triple window framing
everything lost and forgotten
Panorama from the roof of the tallest building
Journal of orders dated 1983-1984
Some roads here could be tricky, especially littoral coastline ones.
Roadable only at low tide hours, if you stuck in tricky sand you could loose your
vehicle. Like this military petrol tank lorry.
We were lucky =^_^=
Back to mainland!
