Yesterday I saved the Earth about 70 miles of driving by taking my Dad to work and then taking his car to Boston and later picking him up. I also saved 100 miles and like $15 worth of gas for my own car. It's just too bad my Dad doesn't normally work at that store or work those hours -- because it would be a nice way to help save the planet and my savings.
Today I saved the Eath three miles of city driving by walking to the library to pick up the book I had on reserve and return a DVD due tomorrow. I hope to make this a more regular habit.
I've thought about riding a bike to work, but it's pretty far and more importantly some of the roads are really not all that safe for bikers (they're narrow and windy).
