So I recently took a trip to Houston. It was Donovan's birthday this weekend and we had been planning to take a trip up to Arkansas. His parents have a lake house there, and we thought it would be a nice get away to go and stay there for the weekend - away from the hustle and bustle of the city. We were going to then visit hot-springs for a little retreat for our body and pamper ourselves all weekend. Well, those plans changed last minute when Donovan's parents told us we couldn’t stay at their lake house. We tried to find a hotel in Hot-Springs at a reasonable price and fail miserably! There is not one single nice hotel in hot springs! And they are all ridiculously over priced!

So instead, I got onto my employee website and did a search for employee rates at surrounding cities - I found a great rate at the Westin Oak in Houston... It’s connected to the Galleria Houston.

Anyways - it wasn't really the retreat we had originally planned, but I had an amazing weekend! We ate at the Cheese Cake Factory and tried this trendy sushi bar called "RA Sushi," which had an amazing mango martini (my new favorite drink. Kyle also suggested that we try a place called "Barnaby’s" which is owned by these two gay guys in the Montrose neighborhood (kind of like Dallas' Oak Lawn). Apparently Barnaby’s service all organic food. I tried the Buffalo Burger, simply because I've never eaten buffalo before. Meh - I wasn't really impressed... but their fried were amazing!

Also, while in Houston, I treated myself to a deep tissue massage and a facial. I'm starting to become very aware of my emending aging process - what with wrinkles starting to appear and the ability to gain weight relatively easy. So I talked to my facialist about my fears of showing age, and she said that I actually have pretty good skin! She suggested a routine for me to go by in the evenings to keep my skin young, but honestly, its a little too regimented and I'm not disciplined enough to abide by it. She did recommend a wonderful eye cream, however, that I did purchase and have been using daily. It’s pretty wonderful - I've always had a problem with dark circles under my eyes because I drink too much and don't get enough sleep. Ever since I've started using this cream though, the circles have dissipated!

But yeah, the rest of the trip was pretty fun. We listened to about 8 and a half hours of Atlas Shrugged in the car, we went to South Beach (Houston's equivalent to Station 4), went to the Houston JR's, shopped, boy watched. There was tons of hot little twinks running rampant in and around the city. It was nice to get away from the familiar and be a part of a new community of people.

But yeah - it was a quick vacation, but I had a lot of fun. A boy I met, Troi, is coming to Dallas this weekend to visit me. He's my incentive to clean my room this week! haha
