back in the old days.....

I had such a great weekend!! Friday afternoon we had practice and I was in one of the women's fours for our BFE racing. We kicked some major butt in that boat. Afterward I picked up some girls and we headed over to Rachel Boss's house for lasagna dinner. There were a lot of people there and it was a ton of fun. I was so tired so I went and rented a movie and enjoyed a quiet evening alone.

Saturday we had practice in the morning and I was with four of the men. We were in old blue which is this boat that sings, not, to you every stroke. That boat is so old!!! It's name is well suited besides that fact that it's not blue. Ok, annyywywaaaysss, back on track here. We kicked butt in that boat too so I had a great weekend of racing.

After practice I came back to my apartment and cleaned. Shortly after I headed home to my parents house. I just hung out with my mom for a bit and then we went to my cousin Jenny's surprise 30th birthday party. It was so nice seeing a bunch of my family. When I was sitting and talking with some of the older people in my family though I started to wonder why things have changed so much since they used to be. My Great Aunt Ruth said that they bought their land, of the house that we were actually at. They built there garage and six people lived in the garage until the house was done. A bunch of my family would come over on the weekends and build the house together and have dinners. To hear of a family doing things like that now is almost unheard of. I'm just glad that I have a family that is as close at it is. It's great getting together with everyone more than once a year. I also like how we don't consider anyone not "as related." My great uncles are my uncles and my 4th cousins are my cousins.

After my mom and I got home I got ready to go hit the town with my best friend Jenny. We went out to Wayside in Kalamazoo. When we were standing outside to get in, Jen saw a bunch of her friends that used to play football for Western. They let us in and gave us VIP passes. We didn't have to pay cover, we got in the VIP room and there were free drinks. Thankfully I didn't take advantage of that. :-) I love going out with Jen. We always have a blast together because we are both confident and can be ourselves and not have to drink to have a good time. We dance well together too and I haven't been able to wait to go out dancing lately. Every once in awhile I get the urge!! :-)

Well, Sunday I just chilled at my parents house. I lounged around and slept. Then I was feeling ambitious so I washed my car, accidentally locking my keys in my car. My step dad is pretty crafty though so he got the door open no problem. My mom and I wanted to get it open without him so while my dad was distracted with the builder who's putting the new porch on our house, we were sneaking around trying to find tools from the pole barn that would work. It was fun. I wasn't to worried either way because I have road side assistance so it wouldn't have cost anything to have someone come out and open the door. I used to have a spare key but it disappeared from Dane's house one day over the summer. This should light a fire in my booty to go get another one or two made. My mom made the best dinner and homemade apple pie and caramel apples. After that I headed up to Mars Hill for a fantastic church service as usual. I actually met pastor Rob tonight too because he was sitting behind us during praise. His brother goes to GV and is the same year as I am. I'm curios to see what type of a person his brother is because Rob is such an intelligent guy and you can tell his mind is always working in so many wonderful different ways.

Well all this leads up to now. I finally updated some of my pictures but there are so many more to go. I'm sooo ready for bed.

I hope everyone had a great weekend and have a wonderful week as well!!

Say a little prayer
Jo
