Found a rather interesting post on craigslist today.
Apparently a new "professional" basketball team is setting up shop in Henry County and is looking for a mascot. Sounds great, right?
That is until I read the last line of the post... "There is no pay involved but the experience and exposure will be invaluable." Wait... isn't being paid a critical part of being "professional", as in, its the dividing line between "professional" and "ameteur"? (Particularly in sports)
MU paid me peanuts, but at least I got paid. (Guess that makes me a professional, w00t!) These people seem to expect that someone will drive to/from Henry County of all places.... (home of the perpetual speed trap) for free. Oh, and they want community appearances too!
Hooray for opportunities that one cannot possibly afford to take.
