Not a bad little weekend that just passed. It was not relaxing by any means and in fact very very busy. However things got done.
I will skip over Friday because it annoys me but I am trying to figure out why so many people feel the need to concentrate on race. They have been having these movie viewings here at school on Friday evenings and afterwards there is a discussion about how it made us feel. We have watched "Crash" and the last one was "Higher Learning". So naturally the discussion turned into black and white race relations. It is a mixed group of students, teachers, RA's and anyone who wants to come. It got to be annoying because talking about race is like sitting in a rocking chair, it gives you something to do but it doesn't get you anywhere. I became fed up when a student called for more black teachers because the white ones can't relate to them.
Here is my thought, the more you concentrate on race the more it will be there. The more we sit and talk about our difference the more projected those differences will be. Ugh, it got to be downright annoying. Lets face it, the only color that matters is green. Now can we hurry up with perfecting the DNA screening so we can discriminate molecularly and not morphologically?
Saturday was busy. I drove up to a reptile show in rural PA, they have it every few months and I meet a few friends up there, we hang out, look at animals and just generally have a good time. This show used to be tiny, not many people there at all, but now, holy shit, we had to wait in line for an hour just to get in!!!
8 years ago Marcial and I could just walk right in with no lines and no crowds. It was annoying, but worth it, got to hang out with some chondro people.....
Those are some buddies of mine who line in Maryland, great guys, do some amazing stuff. The man on the left travels to Papua New Guinea to study Boelon's Pythons. He hooked me up with one of his under armour t shirts with the studies logo on it.
Aqila came with and she couldn't leave empty handed. So I purchased an adult female "chocolate phase" California Kingsnake, which is cool because I have an adult male looking for a mate.
I also a baby kenyan sand boa because, well the little guys are cool. I will get some pictures later.
So we came home from the show, I put the snakes up in the lab, then we ordered some pizza and sat down to watch some of the Soprano's season we have on netflix. Then I got the itch to finally finish arranging my apartment. 6 hours later I now have a bedroom, I rearranged the closests, moved furniture around and now it is like a real apartment!
Sunday was busy, errands, errands, errands. I wanted to go to the Italian market to see if they had the brand of esspresso we drank over in Italy...they did, it is run of the mill and called Lavazzo. I bought a few bricks of it (4.99 each ain't bad!). Here are some pictures of the area.

Now I also purchased some meat down there. No, not pork or veal, I went with kangaroo and turtle. There is an old school butcher there who carries all sorts of game meats and such. He was telling me that kangaroo is a good lean meat, high in protein and tastes like venizon. So I got a half pound of that, then I also purchased some turtle meat. I got a recipe for turtle soup which I am going to try out tomorrow. I am trying to vary things up a bit and try out some new stuff. Keep life interesting.
Here is a shot of his front window....

I went to Target after to get some other kitchen and storage supplies. I also purchased a Mr. Coffee brand Esspresso machine for 30 dollars. I didn't want to spend too much money on one until I see how much I will use it. I also know myself and I have to limit myself to one per day because I will burn a whole in my stomach. So when I got back I put some lavazzo esspresso in the machine and hauled off 2 shots, one for me and one for Aqila. The key is to pack down the esspresso in the filter. The more it is packed in the stronger it will be.
I ended up taking Aqila home pretty early, around 6pm, because it started to snow and got real messy out there. I got back and then basically chilled around my new clean and organized place until I fell asleep......and it felt damn good!
