techmolology and moar

I am really tired. What and it's not Friday yet? Being this tired would make sense if it was Friday. Perhaps it's something to do with the hours I've been keeping.

I have a new phone which is black and kind of sleazy. It does all sorts of unnecessary things like take photos and get me lost in circular menus, but it does not play Gary Numan's 'Cars' as a ringtone. Which is all I really want in a phone, all I have ever really wanted in a phone - and in life. A homage to the Boosh. The good old days of the Boosh when Vince was nice and everything was more innocent and there were ponchos and pictures of kittens called Philip. My last phone also failed me in this desire. My new sleazy phone has a selection of rather 80s numbers for ringtones (their hilarious names, let me show you them: 'Sunday Morning', 'If I Coud'(?), 'Sunday Drive', 'Driving Bayside' and 'Spring Groove') so you think with all the polyphonic fake saxophone action and driving-themed hits, they could fit in a measley 'Cars'. But no. (Download, I hear you say? Say wot now?)

Gary Numan's 'Cars' on the jukebox called Ewtube. omg watch it for the tambourine* if nothing else! Though there is plenty more there to enjoy: the graphics of the time are utterly awesmoe (including Gazza standing up, holding an invisible steering wheel, 'driving' along a keyboard. hmm?), also clapping! and hints of that old Gaz wants to make out with himself. THE LOLZ.

Had lunch with my ma today after work because she on strike for better pay, along with the rest of the teachers in the state. (Filthy commies! lol) Catherine Deveny was one of the speakers at the rally. I'd love to hear her speak. Damn, does anyone here even know who I'm talking about? She's a very opinionated columnist for The Age, one column about TV (she loved Top Gear even though she drives a Volvo!) and one on the opinion pages. She's hilarious and one of my heroes and I heart her to bits!

Anyway, me and my ma both got a bit teary talking about the apology yesterday and how Kevin Rudd will go down in history as a top-knotch PM because of it (at least, I hope he will!) Children were being taken away from their families as late as the 70s and my mum was saying that she remembers there being ads on the telly, with smiling faces of aboriginal children, asking people to adopt them, and my grandma saying to my granddad: 'Couldn't we adopt one? We've got enough love to share.' That was after already having 5 kids - my mum was off at teachers college by this stage. I wonder how different our family would be now, if they had done that. It's an interesting thought.

Ok, I'm off to roast a whole heap of veggies for dinner, then add fetta and maybe also dukkah (brainwave!). Hopefully someone will be home to watch Dexter with me (we're about to start watching season 2) because I'm not sure I can watch it alone. I might just freak the fuck out.

*Nix, DB, anyone else familiar with NMToD: did it also remind you of the tambourine cat? The tambourine within a tambourine, a 'reflection' into infinity = the tambourine cat = Gary Numan? But infinity doesn't last forever! O_O
