Jonathan Ross: How do you fill your day then?
Dylan Moran: That is a very personal question.
Ross: Well, this is a chat show, you're meant to open up.
Dylan: No, but I mean, it's an amazingly -- 'How do you fill your day?' How does anybody fill their day? I think the truth is you fill your day most of the time by being in the washing machine of your own mind, thinking, 'What's this, when does it stop, am I enjoying it, I don't know, oh it's time to go to sleep, I can't, I'm worried.' And then you wake up and you smear jam over your family's face and your own.
Ross: So now we know how you fill your time. Was that so difficult, to open up?
Dylan: No. But, obviously, at times, it's an enormous pleasure to be alive.
This is a short story/monologue Dylan recorded in December 2005 for BBC Radio4 using the prompt "Inner Voices." It's really good! And it gives you a good idea of what Dylan's style is and what his work is about.
