There's so much going on in the world, and so much of value to share with other people, why waste time writing about yourself on your emo book (or myspace or facebook or xanga)?
That sounds sappy because it's vague. But it's true. The Internet came at the wrong time, though if we didn't live in a society constantly hungry for information, it wouldn't have happened. Still, when you network the world in an age where real community is dead and the Self is supreme, what would you expect but for a bunch of people to come and diarrhea all over the place?
It's helpful to have a general theory through which you can look at the world. That might be personality typology, theories of unity, mimetic desire, cultural lenses, or whatever, but it keeps your thoughts straight. It also keeps you insular, so I find it's also helpful to switch your lens every once in a while. This is incidentally why organized religion should be the domain of the supremely intelligent.
Ummmmm.
So this post is me wanting to be emo but not really having anything to be emo about, so basically that just means I'm bored instead.
