Updating before I come home!
So here's a few random things that have happened since I last updated:
-Got my tuxedo
-Got a solo in jazz band
-Have pledged Phi Mu Alpha and am a probationary member
-Went to the hospital on Sunday because of the most excruciating pain behind my eyes ever conceived, and I missed classes on Monday
-Made my roommate agreement! Yay! Now my roommate can't eat my food!
Talked to Matt Anklan, the trumpet player that worked on a Carnival Cruise ship for 2 years. We talked about 2 hours, and near the end of the conversation he told me if I improved on my improvisation skills, he could probably get me a job as 2nd trumpet on a ship with him. $500 a week, free food and room, wake up every day in a new place, and only have to perform AT THE MAX 3-4 hours a day. Talk about an awesome summer job. The worst part would be not seeing DeAnna. :(
Found out I perform for the performance class Tuesday. It should be interesting. All the trumpet players have to play for each other.
Forgot to post on my LJ about Professor Acord's recital which was tonight (sorry Becky/Clyde!). It was awesome. In one part he even chanted, said words, or something. It was really funny. There was this weird electronic music coming from the speakers as he played a solo, and he stopped playing at one fast part and says really fast "Chikka, Chikka Diddity!" or something, and goes back to playing immediately. Everyone was trying so hard to keep from cracking up. Professor Acord is a pretty cool guy, lol.
Found out my first Symphony Band concert is Thursday during Septemberfest. We've rehearsed maybe 6 times and we're already doing a concert with probably 8 pieces or so being performed. The next rehearsal and a half will be with the choir, so our music is basically up to as good as it's going to be at the moment.
DeAnna has what I had (illness), I believe. She is so sick right now and I feel for her.
Signed up for a job today for MSU Blue and Gold. My #1 pick was to host Sheldon Clark, second was to do the warm-up area thing, and third was the water table. I'm 99% sure I'll get to host SCHS since he told us to specify if we knew a band competing and had a connection with it, which is why we want to host it.
If you guys want to talk to me at home, I won't have my computer, so just try and call. Ask someone else my number like DeAnna, or something.
Well I'm going to go practice, at 3:30 in the morning. I'm way behind on my etudes, plus I have homework to do. Later.
