Why is it so freaking hot?!

Man, it is so hot in here. My air conditioner is going as well as my box fan (no central air upstairs). This sucks. It's never this hot up here.

Well anyways...That's not my biggest news of the day. I really came on here to just say one thing...

I *FINALLY* got a Stradivarius trumpet! It's the standard LR180 #36 model. My wonderful girlfriend DeAnna was kind enough to take me all the way to Lexington yesterday just to get it =)

I had been talking to a guy at Don Wilson Music named Eddie, and he plays trumpet. He told me there were 12 in stock and all the same model, and that I could try each one out if I wanted to. I was excited, but I didn't tell him what day I'd be coming in. Well, turns out, Eddie wasn't there yesterday (Saturday). But another guy took me back to try out the trumpets.

He pulled out about 4 or 5 to try out. They were all brand new, and great looking. Some of them were still in their wrapping inside the cases (never tried out before). Well, they all seemed a little light sounding, except the one I chose.

The one I chose was very dark sounding, and was very easy to get a rich sound out of. I automatically knew that when I tried it out, it sounded the best. The guy getting them out also said it sounded better than the rest.

Consequently, the trumpet I picked was the same one that Eddie (trumpet player, see above) had been playing the day before when another kid had came to try them out. Another guy that was there said that the kid that had came the day before was still in high school, and when he played he hunched over and had a horrible sound. They were kind of making fun of him, lol. One of the other guys in the store said he had a bad tone, and the trumpet he chose was a brigther, lighter sound, bordering on being able to stand out of ensembles (a bad thing unless you're going to JUST use it for lead work). They said I had a beautiful tone that allowed me to better choose a trumpet, which made me feel good. I don't get that a lot.

The guy that sold it to me was really nice, too (he had better be, I paid him $1851 total for everything I bought in the store). First off, he gave me a bunch of things free with the trumpet (which cost me $1801): A better polishing cloth, chap stick, mouthpiece pouch, leather guard for valve casings, a cleaning kit (which comes free with it anyways), a 3C bach mouthpiece in place of a 7C (saved me $33 as Eddie told me I'd have to buy it seperately), a bottle of Bach Valve Oil (extra...the valve oil I got by default was "Don Wilson Valve Oil" lol), and two of those rubber wristband things (like the yellow Lance Armstrong ones) that were blue and said "Music For All" on it. But I attribute that to DeAnna saying "hey these are cool" and him saying "well take two" lol. I think that was her favorite thing I got free.

I also bought a 5 legged trumpet stand (better than the 3 legged ones, most definately. :P). You know, those ones that you can store in the bell of your trumpet and when you unscrew it and everything it sits on the ground and you sit your trumpet on top of it...I saved $15 on that because I'm a Morehead State student, and only paid $15 for it total. It's really nice. I also bought a 'Harmon' Mute, for $35 (saved $15 because I'm an MSU student). So I probably received $100 worth of accessories (including the free things I got) for about $50. All in all, it was a great trip.

Then we went to Joseph Brooks (I think that's the place anyways) so DeAnna could look for a book. By this time I was already done with the trip and ready to go home, so I was all whiny and "leetts leeave". Mostly because I didn't have any money to buy anything with anyways, because I promised to pay for gas and food.

After that we went to Fayette Mall where I continued to whine until we left. I made DeAnna drive on the way home (she made me drive on the way there until I-75 where she took over because she was afraid I'd panic and wreck and kill us both, which is absurd) and fell asleep in the passenger seat. I was probably being real annoying.

Oh hey I almost forgot, then we stopped at Wal-Mart and we bought some stuff there, and I kept bugging her because I wanted to go get an Icee and she wanted to keep shopping. I mean, I only wanted an Icee, but I suppose she was afraid I'd make a break for it. I finally bought one while she was checking out, and they kept messing up when trying to validate her check or something. I mean who pays with checks anymore anyways, DeAnna? Geez. Get with the 21st century. ;P

Anyways, it's hot up here, and I'm going to go play my new trumpet. It's great.

Later.
