12 characters meme

lost_spook posted answers to this meme a few days back. So then I went to the generator and fed it some names, and one thing led to another.

The characters are:
  1. Tegan Jovanka
  2. Gia Kelly
  3. Ninth Doctor
  4. Courtney Woods
  5. Gervase Fen
  6. Inspector Slack
  7. Captain Wentworth
  8. Astrid Ferrier
  9. Sir Percival Glyde
  10. The Kandyman
  11. Martha Jones
  12. Liz Ten
8 [Astrid Ferrier] and 4 [Courtney Woods] get stuck in a lift. What happens?
Astrid gets them both out of the lift and has them climbing up the shaft before Courtney can so much as start to feel queasy.
Randomise a song by your preferred means (shuffle your iPod/MP3 player/iTunes/the internet). Pick out the line that best fits 2 [Gia Kelly]?
That would be Des Antonius von Padua Fischpredigt by Gustav Mahler. Which... is mainly a list of fish, and I don't think she particularly resembles any of them.
What would be your plot device of choice for a fic involving 11 [Martha Jones] and 6 [Inspector Slack]?
Martha's obviously the doctor whose inconvenient medical evidence is the only thing keeping Slack from arresting his preferred suspect. And since Martha's (a) female and (b) black, he'll be at his bullying worst.
Rec a fanwork about 12 [Liz Ten]?
The Royal Treatment by biichan (1273 words, Ace/Liz X)
Where would 9 [Sir Percival Glyde] take 5 [Gervase Fen] on a date?
This sounds somewhat implausible given that (a) Fen's married, (b) they come from different centuries, (c) in Fen's time it would be breaking the law. But setting that aside, Parson's Pleasure.
2 [Gia Kelly] and 4 [Courtney Woods] are now buddy cops. Do they make a good team, and is this bad or good news for nearby criminals?
Sounds like rather a classic salt-and-pepper pairing, really: the by-the-book, uptight, older, white officer and the streetwise, younger, black cowboy cop. No doubt they'd start off with a prickly relationship and eventually bond just in time to ruin the local crimelords' day.
Make up a summary for an apocalyptic fic featuring 5 [Gervase Fen] and 10 [The Kandyman]
Fen's really not having a good meme, is he?

Terra Alpha's facing a new and deadly threat - the planet has been overrun by zombies. Holed up in his kitchen, the Kandyman and visiting academic Gervase Sigma try to find some way to turn the tide.
If 3 [Ninth Doctor] and 7 [Captain Wentworth] were a couple, how would they meet and would it work out?
The TARDIS lands on Wentworth's ship - that's straightforward. And in the middle of the sea, what is there to pass the time but rum, sodomy and the lash? Well, should there be an appearance by the Sea Devils or the Myrka I'm sure Wentworth would rise to the challenge and make an excellent companion. He wouldn't agree to go with the Doctor, though: he has a responsibility to his ship, and a True Love back ashore.
1 [Tegan Jovanka], 10 [The Kandyman] and 8 [Astrid Ferrier] go on an epic road trip. Where are they going, who drives, and who gets left behind at the first stop?
Um. OK. For Tegan and Astrid to meet without the use of the TARDIS suggests Tegan is in her fifties. That's enough time for her to have a change of career, so let's say she's involved in arranging a corporate conference for a the confectionery industry. Naturally, the Kandyman will be the principal speaker. Rumours of trouble from the Occupy movement cause Tegan to take precautions, so she hires a car filled with Bond-style gadgets, with freelance troubleshooter Astrid Ferrier as its driver.

The Kandyman gets left behind; while he's in a service station ranting at the owner of the pick-and-mix stall, Astrid and Tegan quickly agree that however much they're being paid for this, it's nothing like enough, and drive off into the sunset together.
In a coffee shop type AU with 9 [Sir Percival Glyde] and 4 [Courtney Woods], what would their establishment be called?
Blackwater Coffee. And everyone who went in there would make the obvious joke. In practice, though, the only sign their coffee house would ever carry would be 'Closed due to unforeseen circumstances'.
What would the title be for a romance novel/film featuring 7 [Captain Wentworth] and 12 [Liz Ten]?
Rule the Waves. (Over Liz X's strong objections; she was holding out for Perversion).
If forced to choose, would you rather have an evening out with 1 [Tegan Jovanka] or 11 [Martha Jones]?
From the point of view of canon, Tegan's single and Martha's married :-) But I think, setting that aside, Martha might be better company. She probably wouldn't enjoy the evening, though, because since she's a doctor I'd likely spend the evening being hypochondriac at her.
What's your favourite pairing (romantic or otherwise) for 3 [Ninth Doctor]?
I don't think I have a romantic pairing for Nine (though now I've been asked, I'm wondering how he'd react to River). Non-romantically (at least on Nine's side) I think probably Jack Harkness.
Write a snippet from a 8 [Astrid Ferrier], 9 [Sir Percival Glyde] and 3 [Ninth Doctor] pirate AU. ('Snippet' here meaning 'as brief as you like'.)

Black Percival strolled across the deck to where his captive was bound.

"Struggle all you like, my dear," he said, and twirled his moustache. "It will avail you naught. Let us talk of your future aboard this ship. To a large extent, it depends on how you behave toward us." He touched her cheek. "In particular, toward me- Oof!"
Astrid had brought her knee up sharply, landing an agonising blow between the pirate captain's legs. He doubled over.
"You'll pay for that," he hissed, between curses. "I'll give you to the -"
Abruptly, Astrid found the ropes holding her wrists had fallen away, and the handle of a cutlass was pressed into her hand. She looked around, and recognised the tall, shaven-headed bo'sun who'd caught her eye back at the Mariners' Rest.
"Run!" he said, with a grin.
11 [Martha Jones], 1 [Tegan Jovanka], 12 [Liz Ten] and 5 [Gervase Fen] are on a talent show. Who wins?
Probably Liz Ten with a sharpshooting act. Fen might manage a comic monologue, but 'brilliant detective skills' don't seem to count for much in the world of talent shows. The same applies to Martha's medical abilities. Tegan? Well, she could channel the Mara, but that might be a bit much for the viewers. Might be fun to see it mocking the judges, though.
Aliens try to make 2 [Gia Kelly], 6 [Inspector Slack] and 12 [Liz Ten] do it. Do they have any luck?
I think that once again, their only option is failure. Possibly under that frosty exterior Miss Kelly is really a seething hotbed of suppressed desire, but she's not the sort to take orders from officious aliens. The same goes for Liz Ten, plus getting her mixed up in that sort of thing is probably treason and grounds for summary execution. And Slack would no doubt put the tin lid on things by raising the other two's hackles with a careless remark or two.
What might 1 [Tegan Jovanka] say to compliment 5 [Gervase Fen]?
I'm not sure Tegan's much in the habit of paying compliments. Perhaps "You're not such an idiot as you look," after he's demonstrated that.
What would 10 [The Kandyman] hate most about 2 [Gia Kelly]? And what would 9 [Sir Percival Glyde] love most about 10 [The Kandyman]?
For the first: Probably that she wouldn't be cowed by him. But the Kandyman is generous with his hatred of every other being in the Universe, and no doubt could name many other aspects of her that were displeasing to him.

I daresay Percy G (as the Kandyman would no doubt call him) would value the Kandyman's ability to make lethal sweeties. He could buy a bag for Laura and Marian to share, and watch them die from sensory overload.
If you had to write a crossover involving 6 [Inspector Slack] and 4 [Courtney Woods], how would it go and/or what would the crossover fandom be?
This looks reasonably straightforward: Disruptive Influence accompanies the Doctor on a trip to whatever era Miss Marple's stories are set in. And once there, she manages to get mixed up in a murder case and is pulled in by Slack as an obvious suspect. Fortunately Miss Marple and/or Twelve are at hand to prove her innocence and find the real culprit.
Go here to generate a random poem. The second line is now the title of a fic about 11 [Martha Jones] and 7 [Captain Wentworth]. What's the plot?
"There was no moon at all, at all; no timid star alight;" (from The Convalescent by Robert Service).

Oh dear. Looks like some cosmic catastrophe has wiped out the Universe. Again. Perhaps this is a rewrite-with-Martha of The Pandorica Opens / The Big Bang, except that it's set in the early 1800s rather than the early 100s. And instead of a handsome centurion, Martha gets to team up with a handsome naval captain. We probably wouldn't be able to avoid a scene where they bond over unrequited love, too.
If 3 [Ninth Doctor] and 9 [Sir Percival Glyde] decided to get together and pull off a jewel heist, how would that go?
I'm guessing Nine has tracked down a vital jewel-resembling plot device (cf Grand Theft Cosmos) to some aristocrat's residence. Sir Percival is (as always) short of money, and agrees to get Nine an invitation, in return for a share of the loot. Being the sort of man he is, he no doubt plans to double-cross Nine and get all the proceeds for himself; by the same token, he'd lose his temper at the crucial moment and bring the whole thing crashing down around his ears, while Nine got away safely with the McGuffin.
7 [Captain Wentworth] has got to save the world from 8 [Astrid Ferrier]. Is the world saved or doomed?
I don't know what threat Astrid can be posing to the world. Unless she's threatening the masses with starvation by pursuing her personal vendetta against the man whose inventions keep them fed: Ramon Salamander. In which case, Wentworth (presumably an updated version) would be one of Donald Bruce's subordinates trying to stop her. Result: the world is saved - Wentworth takes a detachment of Marines and secures the Suncatcher while Astrid and Bruce are dealing with Salamander himself.
