TM 247 Write about a mess you've cleaned up backdated rp post for tm_rogue

John wouldn't consider his current situation a mess really. He couldn't regret putting his faith in Magneto or joining the Brotherhood. Truth be told, if things hadn't went to shit during the big fight with the X-Men, he'd still be working along side Magneto. He'd still be Brotherhood. After all, he'd rose through the ranks quick enough. He'd ( Read more... )

There were no telepaths at the mansion anymore. That should have made sneaking away infinitely easier. Of course when you're big brother is Logan sneaking out is next to impossible. Somehow luck had been on Rogue's side as he'd left the day before. Another tie to his past to investigate and she'd smiled and waved and promised to keep hold of his tags. They were locked around her wrist again. Even if she didn't make it back to the mansion before he did she had a feeling he'd trust her to take care of them ( ... )

He popped the trunk so she could put her things in the back. It was a force of habit to look around just to make sure no one was watching them. He didn't think Rogue would lead anyone to him, but he couldn't shake the feeling that the government hadn't finished with trying to cure all of them ( ... )

"Logan left ta find himself again so there wasn't anyone left ta give me any trouble." Not that Ms. Monroe and the other teachers weren't observant but they didn't have quite the same instincts as Logan. Not to mention they were dealing with enough issues with the school year having recently begun. Rogue honestly doubted they'd notice she was gone for a couple of days. The new students and their parents were taking up a lot of the teachers time.

She shifted in the seat and adjusted it to accommodate the amount of leg space she desired. "Where'd ya get the car?"

She wouldn't exactly fault him if he'd had to steal it. A person had to do what was necessary in order to survive. Especially if they were on their own; she certainly had. Rogue glanced sideways at him, trying not to stare but she wanted to silently assess how he compared to the last time she'd actually seen him. She thought he looked older which wasn't exactly a good thing. Teenagers were not supposed to look so experienced. It wasn't normal.

They weren't exactly normal.

"He left?" John wasn't exactly surprised. Logan had bailed before after all. Bobby had pitched a fit when he showed back up, and Marie was happy about it. Those dogtags had been something that John teased Bobby about. For someone who was supposed to be cold as ice, it wasn't that hard to wind Drake up ( ... )

"Ain't got anywhere specific in mind but I'll let ya know if somethin' catches my eye." Rogue didn't require a map. She'd already mapped out the most likely route to the lake he'd been talking about and memorized the highways. It seemed like a good idea to have a basic idea of where they were headed but one of the highlights of being on the open road was simply driving. She liked the uncertainty, the freedom that it represented ( ... )

"Cool." That was all he really had to say about her having money of her own. Rogue and him were a lot alike. They liked to be in control of their situations. He would have covered her without thinking twice about it, but he understood the desire to pay her share. If anything it just ensured they could stay away longer without worrying about running out of cash ( ... )

"Sounds like a plan." Don't worry, John, she's not much of a fan of pop. It's the country roots you have to watch out for. At the moment she found it hard to listen to without thinking of her hometown so Rogue had been listening less and less to it. Every so often the mood hits her but it's usually late at night when she's laying on the roof at Xavier's.

Rogue wasn't sure what her time table would be. In a few hours Ms. Monroe and the other staff would realize she's gone. Hopefully the note saying she'd be back would curtail any search they might think of instituting. Thankfully she was pretty sure they didn't have a means of contacting Logan. He always contacted them and since he'd called yesterday that gave her at least a week before he called again, maybe more, and out of everyone he should understand her need to roam.

"No time table for me. You?"

He could probably deal with the country. John could deal with most things if it was in moderation. Pop music was just one of those things that was rarely in moderation. Radio stations had a bad habit of playing the same ten songs on repeat. No wonder why everyone clung to Ipods. John didn't though. He didn't trust walking around with an Ipod in his ear. It gave people the upper hand in sneaking up on him.

"No, no time table." Which was just the way he liked it. He'd worked with Magneto's schedule, and even with the schools back in the day. Now he was in charge of his own destiny. Even if it was something as simple as being able to take a drive when he wanted, and not have to worry about answering to anyone he was grateful for it.

They drove in silence for a little while. The good thing about Marie was that she understood what it meant to be left to your thoughts at times. Maybe that was why he actually missed her, and on occasion Logan. They understood how the others worked. "I'm glad you came out with me. It would be a boring trip

"I'm glad you offered." She had been itching for a break from the school routine, for a chance to breathe. It would have taken several more weeks before she would have gone on her own. Rogue was pleased she didn't have to be on her own. It always amazed her how easily she could feel alone in a crowd of people. It wasn't that way in the car with John. It never felt that way with Logan either. Not to mention she wasn't sure how far she could have stretched her savings on her own.

"So why'd ya need company? Are the rumors about the dissolution of the Brotherhood true?" John had to have known she'd ask about it. She understood the appeal of Magneto's philosophy, the power it gave to those desperately seeking control of their lives. Rogue also knew the other side of his vision and how easily he would turn on his people if he thought it would benefit his Cause. She hoped John hadn't learned that lesson the hard way.
